Description of Works:
Large boulders amongst material on steep slopes above embankment had to be restrained or broken to a size less than 1m to enable rock catch fences to work successfully. Boulders were drilled by hand and low powered rock breaking products were used to break up rocks to a suitable size. It was critical that very low vibrations were made so as not to create a landslide. Some hand drilling and rockbolting of boulders were also performed and restrained with steel wire rope and rockfall netting.
